NNAS Straight to Silver navigation skills - Swaledale

NNAS Straight to Silver navigation skills weekend
28th - 30th November 2014
Grinton, Swaledale

Just got back from the last 3-day NNAS Straight to Silver navigation skills course of 2014, based at the Bridge Inn at Grinton in beautiful Swaledale.

Friday - misty and murky, so did low level route around Grinton, Fremington and Reeth getting to grips with maps and key navigation strategies.

Saturday - thick mist, so headed up onto Grinton Moor and Harkerside to practice compass bearings, contour interpretation and night navigation (poor visibility).

Sunday - clear day, so headed up onto Fremington Edge via the magnificent Jabz Cave, with perhaps the finest view of Swaledale.

Another 6 successful NNAS Silver award holders!

Next NNAS course? 6 - 8 February 2015, Buckden, Wharfedale
